TypeGlow is a custom keyboard app for iPhone. This page explains, in plain language, what happens to your information when you use it. The short version is simple. What you type stays on your device, and we do not track you.
TypeGlow has no accounts, no sign up, and no login, and we have no servers that receive your information. We do not build a profile of you.
There is one exception, which is advertising in the free version of the app. That is explained in the Advertising section below. Everything to do with the keyboard and your typing still collects nothing.
The keyboard never saves, stores, or sends the text you type. It reads a small amount of the text near your cursor only for normal keyboard behavior, such as capitalizing the first letter of a sentence and offering word suggestions. This happens live on your iPhone and is used only for that moment. It is never written to a file, never logged, and never transmitted anywhere.
Word suggestions come from a fixed word list that is bundled inside the app. The matching runs entirely on your iPhone. No text leaves your device to produce a suggestion.
For third party keyboards, iOS shows an option called Allow Full Access. TypeGlow asks for it for one reason only, so it can play key press sounds and haptic feedback, which iOS does not allow a keyboard to do without it. Turning it on is your choice, and the keyboard still works with it off. You simply will not hear key sounds. Even when Full Access is on, TypeGlow has no networking code and does not send what you type, or anything else, off your device.
Your chosen theme, colors, sounds, and other preferences are stored locally on your device and in a private storage area that the app shares with its keyboard, which Apple calls an App Group. This never leaves your phone. It is used only to keep the app and the keyboard in sync.
The free version of the TypeGlow app shows occasional full screen ads, for example after you apply a theme. These ads come from Unity Ads, an advertising service from Unity Technologies. To show an ad, Unity may receive limited technical information from your device, such as the device model, the operating system version, a general location based on your IP address, and a temporary identifier used so the same ad is not repeated too often.
TypeGlow does not use Apple’s advertising identifier, and it does not ask to track you across other apps or websites. The ads are not personalized by following your activity elsewhere, and we do not sell your information.
Ads appear only inside the TypeGlow app. They never appear in the keyboard, and Unity never receives anything you type. If you buy TypeGlow Pro, all ads are removed for good.
You can read Unity’s privacy policy at https://unity.com/legal/privacy-policy.
If you buy the premium unlock, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. Apple processes the transaction under Apple’s own privacy policy.
TypeGlow does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
